The The Ashley Madison Hack was a information breach, July 2015, caused by a group calling itself "The Impact Team" who copied down personal information about the Ashley Madison's user base and blackmailed to release users' personal and identifying information if the immediate shut down of the Ashley Madison site wasn't imminent. The event affected how sites store information for their users and monitoring who is on/a member of their site, in this case the Ashley Madison site went from email validations to email validations and payment to ensure total safety and control. Members and their families exposed to the hack underwent serious consequences. The hack and the threat of personal information caused many divorces and even suicides, as the site was used for married people to get into affairs. This evolved sites to take better security in the members it takes in and the information that it stores. It makes a person cautious and aware of what information they are putting on the internet and the same thing can happen again on any site form.
